Trinity College Dublin

The Trinity College Dublin Shakespeare Festival 2011

Trinity College is Ireland's oldest and most prestigious university and was founded by Queen Elizabeth 1st in 1592 just two years before A Midsummer Night's Dream was first performed. William Shakespeare was a 28 year old actor and playwright performing his own plays in London and on tour in the open air. Trinity’s early years ran parallel with the creation of these great works and it is possible its first scholars would have seen the great man perform live.

This beautfiul Elizabethan College is the perfect setting for open air Shakespeare to be performed in the 3rd annual Trinity College Dublin
Shakespeare Festival
. The GB Theatre Company's productions of Romeo & Juliet and Twelfth Night will be the headline show in a week featuring over 50 different performances of William Shakespeare's work, all of which will take place throughout Dublin's most idyllic locations.
